Surface issues & superficial solutions
This is from Millennium. Modified to some extent.
Tell me how all of the surface issues, like economics, politics, governments, religions, economic models, or any other preposterous proposed basis for improving our predicament can possibly compare in any way to something so fundamental to our existence, something so crucial to the basis on which we live as correcting the state of coitus to suit a sentient race that is aware of its lack?
Coitus is not some superfluous issue. It affects who we are and the detritus of the animal remains after thousands of years.
All of the superficial solutions like the brute force effect of laws, religious dictates, regulations, mores, and ethics have no real effect other than to contain the madness to the slightest degree. They are forced on the individual from the outside. It doesn't work. Nothing changes. The pressure builds and the pressure cooker bursts apart regularly. It gets worse each time the pressure cooker explodes.
The only real and necessary change comes from within by facing the issue that has distorted our existence for three millennia. While I am extremely confident that any man can learn to make coitus a loving event, even if it weren't, we would still have to face the facts.
All of the feeble efforts to tweak the surface issues or force conformity with superficial solutions (think herd behaviour) have never improved the situation one iota and never will. It does not get us closer to being Human. It only gets us closer to completing an absurd mimicry of Humanity.
We cannot become Human by relying on outside influences to force change. It cannot happen. The attempt to do so is an animal mimicking what it thinks it means to be Human, while completely ignoring the internal struggle.
We are no closer to our Humanity than we were three thousand years ago and, yet, we can get there in a virtual instant. It has all been mind games of imbeciles, so far.
Do you really think that a law should be required for a man not to rape a woman? Do you really think that little of men and humanity in general?
I know. That's the way it's always been, right? Sigh. "We are only human." Sigh.
How about a man's own self-respect impeding him from such a heinous act? You can hardly even comprehend the concept, right? All of the other acts of abuse against women and a great lot of our most egregious troubles come from the same pool of men's lack of self-respect. There is only one reason for their lack of self-respect.
This one is from Book 6.
The Trouble With Troubles
There is something disturbing humanity at a fundamental level. That disturbance keeps all of the nonsense in motion.
If you inspect closely, what we have tried to do regarding our predicament is focus on each little individual trouble that humanity causes and stamp it out, in order to avoid the real issue. It is humanity itself that is the problem. Humanity does not need to remain a problem.
We have tried to contain the chaos in only two ways: laws and religion. They only attempt to contain the havoc, never eliminate it. Learning to be Human is not an intellectual prospect that can be taught. We need to educate the heart.
Attacking surface issues is like playing the game Whack-A-Mole. More idiocy will always pop up. Worse yet, it is always in a more virulent form than the previous attempts.
Our whole approach has been based on the assumption that we are irretrievably screwed up.
We spend our time on surface issues & superficial solutions because we have not been willing to look at humanity itself and ponder what is wrong with the human race. We have not been willing to take a hard look at humanity because it means taking a hard look at coitus, the basis of our existence. We have never faced the fact that coitus in its limited animal rendition is the problem because we have been convinced by the hundreds of millions of years of the witless animal's instinctual rendition that coitus cannot change. It is a witless conclusion. Of course, a race of sentient beings that have the capability to master their own bodies can.
